Helen Margaret (Green) Manion, 93, Superior resident, died on Wednesday, December 28, 2016. She was born in Superior, WI on April 1, 1923, the daughter of John and Evelyn Green.
Helen was a graduate of Cathedral High School and the Superior Teachers College (UWS). She taught English and music at West Salem and Waupaca, WI.
On February 7, 1948, she and William J. Manion were united in marriage at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church and they celebrated fifty-two years together. Helen was a lifelong member of Cathedral of Christ the King parish and the Catholic Daughtersof the Americas Court 1190. She loved her family and home and spending summers at the cabin in Iron River.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William “Bill”; son William “Bill”; sister and brother-in-law Marian and Bill Harry and brother and sister-in-law Jack and Tillie Green.
Helen is survived by five sons, John (Mary Jo), Tom (Jackie), Jim (Susan), Jerry (Jackie) and Mark (Shelly) Manion; two daughters, Marcia Manion and Mary (John) Mahan; daughter-in-law, Barbara Manion; eighteen grandchildren, Megan (Drew) Liebaert, Mark (Jill), Sara and Lori Mahan, Kristin (Rob) Maas, Jeff (Kalli), David (Marlene), Tim (Leah), Mike (Amber), Rob (Arah), Brian (Valerie), Sean, Dan, Marty, Nicole, Bridget, Kristina and Bill Manion; twenty-three
great-grandchildren include Elsa, Will, and Dillon Maas; Madeline, Gabriella, Carolina, Merrilee, Nolan, Conor, Annabel, Amelia, Coleton, Cayden, Taylee, Johnny, Carson, Camren, Blake, and Ayva Manion, Lily and Jack Mahan, Elise and Hannah Liebaert and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church with a CDA Rosary to be held at 9:30 AM. Visitation will continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Superior.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made in Helen’s name to Cathedral School.
