Helen C. Shereda

Helen C. Shereda, 103, life long Lake Nebagamon area resident, died Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center, Hawthorne, Wisconsin.

She was born in Sebeka, Minnesota on July 1, 1908, the daughter of John and Isabel (Austrum) Hansen.

Helen was the oldest surviving member of the Hawthorne Assembly of God Church.

She had been the Woman’s Ministry President, Sunday School Teacher, and also served the church in many additional capacities.

Helen enjoyed making quilts for family, friends and people in need. She created thousands of greeting card awards used by missionaries in children’s ministries.

Helen was also known as mother to over forty-six foster children over a period of twenty-five years.

She is survived by four generations of nieces, nephews, many cousins; one sister-in-law, Doris Hansen; and longtime dear friend and caregiver, Lois Moss.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Charlie” Shereda; one infant daughter,Janet; one infant son, Henry Charles; two sisters, Eleanor Hansen and Evelyn Anderson; five brothers, Harry, Irvin, Alden, Arthur and Edwin Hansen.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Monday, January 30, 2012 at Hawthorne Assembly of God Church, Hawthorne , Wisconsin and continue until the 11:00 AM Funeral with Pastor Gary Bell, Pastor Ken Wheeler and Pastor Dan Vander Ark, co-officiating.

Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Solon Springs, Wisconsin.
