Henry Antilla

Henry Antilla, 91, lifelong resident of Maple, WI, died Thursday, July 7, 2016 in his home. He was born May 6, 1925 in Maple, WI, the son of Alexander and Hilda (Aho) Antilla.

He attended Maple Corner School and graduated from the former Central High School in Superior. Henry also attended the University of Wisconsin, Superior.

He was employed on the family farm in Maple, Maple Coop Association, Reiss Steamship Company and the State of Wisconsin.
Henry enjoyed the companionship of his K-9 family that consisted of his three Beagles, Tootsie, Rosie and Annie.

He is survived by his four nieces, Julia (Gary) Blaisdell, Superior, WI, Betty (Don) Aro, Superior, WI, Mary (Mike) McKenna, Middleton, WI and Barbara (Wayne) Wahler, Fort Atkinson, WI; two nephews, James (Jeanne) Perala, Turtle Lake, WI and Tom (Jana) McCauley, Oregon, WI; longtime personal friend and caregiver Steve Haukkala, Maple, WI, and several grand nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, Ellen Carlson, Aino Perala, Bertha McCauley, Stella Harstad, Miriam Dregne; two brothers Evert and Ruben Antilla; two nephews, Elmer Perala and Charles McCauley.

Per Henry’s wishes, private graveside services will be held a later date.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Superior Douglas County Humane Society.
