Horace L. Brown

January 12, 1922 — November 5, 2010

Horace Brown, 88, lifelong Superior area resident, died Friday, November 5, 2010 at his home unexpectedly. He was born in Superior on February 12, 1922, the son of Ira and Berglioit (Mikelby) Brown.

He served his Country in the United States Army Air Corp during WW II as a Glider Pilot.

Horace was employed as a Supervisor by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.

Horace married June Moller in Superior on October 6, 2007 and recently celebrated three years of marriage.

Horace loved spending time with family and friends especially children and will always be remembered as a very generous man. Horace loved living his faith through Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior.

He was a longtime member of Twin Ports Baptist Church; the American Legion, Superior where he served as Post Commander.

Horace is survived by two sons, Ron (Mary) Brown, Solon Springs, WI and Dave (Nadine) Brown, Grand Marais, MN; his wife June and her children, one daughter, Barb (Dave) Tunell, Superior, WI; two sons, Mike Sawicki, California and Steve Sawicki, Tampa Bay, Florida; four grandchildren, Scott (Paula) Brown, Duluth, MN; Eileen (Tony) Amys, Superior, WI; Tracy Rogers, Madison, WI; and Grant (Emily) Brown, Duluth, MN; several beloved great-grandchildren and several  step children from a former marriage with Tyne Brown who passed away in 1999; one sister, Violet Johnson, Southern, WI; one brother, Harold Brown, Superior, WI; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Peterson; his second wife, Tyne Brown; his parents, Ira and Berglioit Brown; one sister, Evelyn Waller; and one brother, Ira Brown.

Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Twin Ports Baptist Church Superior. Visitation will continue until the 12:00 Noon Funeral Service with Pastor Mark Wagenschutz and Pastor Scott Brown, Horace's grandson, officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Military Honors being accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post # 435 Honor Guard.

Pallbearers for the service will be Grant Brown, Zachary Brown, Logan Amys, Brady Brown, Brittany Brown, Jade Amys, Haley Brown and Ariana Amys.

June’s grandchildren will be recognized as Honorary Pallbearers.
