Howard Sandberg, 97, formerly of Lake Nebagamon, currently of Superior, died, Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Harmony House in Superior.
He was born on February 10, 1917 in Superior to Harvey and Ovedia (Vinge) Sandberg.
Howard served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a staff sergeant serving with the 754 th Railroad Battalion in China, Burma and India.
Howard owned and operated Sandberg Sheet Metal in East End Superior for many years.
He was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Nebagamon, currently a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Superior, Itasca Masonic Lodge, Superior Elks Lodge #403, Aad Temple Shrine Club, Duluth, Diamon City #65, Superior Council #30, Knights Templar and a life member of the V.F.W. Post #849.
Howard is survived by nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Eleanor Sandberg; his parents, his second wife, Alice “Ollie” Sandberg; four sisters, Irene Leksell, Bernice Christenson, Dorothy Hoven and Marge Kern and a brother John Sandberg.
Pallbearers for the service will be his nephews.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and will continue until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service on Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home with Pastor Sarah Kerkes of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Superior, officiating.
Burial will be in the Lake Nebagamon Cemetery.
