Ida Mae Korhonen, 77, lifelong Brule, WI area resident, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at her niece’s home in Brookfield, WI.
She was born in Brule on August 7, 1938 to Edward E. and Martha E. (Leaf) Gruebele.
She graduated from Northwestern High School.
Ida married the love of her life, Raymond Korhonen, on October 18, 1958 and celebrated 51 years of marriage before he passed away on July, 16, 2008.
She was employed as a chiropractic assistant at Dr. Lally’s office and she also worked for 20 years at the former Superior Clinic. Most recently she worked on the election board registering voters. She also would go to home bound and nursing homes so people to could vote absentee ballots.
Ida was a former member of the South Range Presbyterian Church, a former member of the Brule Presbyterian Church and currently a member of the United Presbyterian Church.
She was an avid bowler, was a member of the Superior Women’s Bowlers Association and its 600 Club. She also enjoyed her occasional trips to different casinos in the area.
Ida is survived by one sister, Mary Jo Chramosta, Iron River, WI; one brother, Robert L. (Carol) Gruebele, Maple; a special niece, Kathy (Barry) Becker, Brookfield, WI and several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Ray, Ida was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, June Brown, Ann Running and Barbara Nyberg and four brothers, Lawrence, Jack, Donald and Ronald Gruebele.
Ida wanted to thank everyone who supported her through her journey, for their thoughts, prayers and cards.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
