Illie L. Markon

January 21, 1927 — August 20, 2016

Illie L. Markon, 89, longtime area resident passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at St Luke’s Hospital, Duluth, Minnesota. She was born in Lake Nebagamon, Wisconsin on January, 21, 1927 to Nicklas and Lydia (Matson) Abrahamson.

Illie was a nutrition supervisor with Middle River for many years. She was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Red Hat Ladies; the Birthday club and Homemakers club. Illie also enjoyed quilting, painting, gardening and crocheting. She enjoyed spending time traveling to Alaska and Finland. Illie loved spending time with family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly called her “GG”.

She is survived by three sons, Dr Clyde (Shirley) Markon, New Hope, MN; Carl Markon, Homer Alaska and Stephen (Julie) Markon, Ramsey, MN; grandchildren, Jesse Markon, California; Kristian (Catalina) Markon, Iowa; Noah (Michelle) Markon, MN; Aimee ( Steve) Peter, MN; ten great-grandchildren, Helena, Chloe, Serena, Sebastien, Ella, Magdalene, Lincoln, Abraham, Edith and Florence; one sister, Elaine DeBrock, Rhinelander, WI; one brother, Alvin “Sonny” Abrahamson, Superior, WI; close niece, Karen Halverson, Barnes, WI, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward in 1999; and parents; four sisters, Inga West, Ine Halverson, Irene Cole and Ingrid Peterson; brothers, Arne Abrahamson and Leonard Abrahamson.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 26, 2016 at St. William Catholic Church, 3095 E. County Rd B, Foxboro, WI and continue until the 11:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Ronald Olson and Rev. Fr. Adam Laski as concelebrants. Burial will be in St. Williams Cemetery, Foxboro,Wisconsin. Pallbearers for the service will be Kristian Markon, Noah Markon, Steve Peter, Randi Markon, Joel Markon, Matthew Markon, Gary Abrahamson and Guy Hohenhaus.

The family of Illie would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Sandy Popham and St. Luke’s Hospital for the wonderful care that was given to Illie.
