Irene Hegbloom, 61, lifelong Port Wing resident, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on May 13, 1953 in Superior, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Betty (Peterson) Helsing.
Irene worked for Rueben Johnson Construction for over twenty years.
Irene loved going to the beach in Port Wing and taking care of her yard and flowers. Irene also enjoyed taking motorcycle trips with her special friend, Bobby. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends especially her grandchildren.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church, in Port Wing.
She is survived by her daughter, Tammy (Tom Becker) Hegbloom and their dog Scooter, Sebeka, MN; one son, Troy (Tricia) Hegbloom, Pulaski, Wisconsin; two grandsons, Todd and Tyler Hegbloom, Pulaski, WI; one sister, Margie (Keith) Larson, Port Wing, Wisconsin; two brothers, David and Sonny Helsing, Port Wing, WI; longtime special friend, Bobby Glau, Herbster, WI; one aunt, LaVerne Hogfeldt; one nephew, Kurt (Barb) Larson and their children, Alex and Rachel; three nieces, Michelle Helsing, Tanya (Al) Mueller and their children, Wyatt and Maggie; and Emaleigh Helsing.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; two aunts, Norma Yuhas and Amy Taipale.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 28, 2014 at First Lutheran Church in Port Wing and continue until the 11:30 AM, Memorial service with Pastor Bill Wrieden, officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Port Wing.
The Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
