Jack Sojka, 94, lifelong resident of Duluth, MN, died peacefully on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at Heritage Haven Assisted Living in Duluth. He was born in Duluth on March 10, 1929, the son of John Stanley and Frances (Waletzko) Sojka.
Jack was united in marriage to Kathryn Fischer on March 15, 1958, and they celebrated fifty-six years of marriage before her passing in 2015.
He worked as a laborer for the City of Duluth Water and Gas Department before retiring after many years of dedicated service.
Jack loved to fish and enjoyed watching the Great Lakes ships come into port and tracking their schedules. He especially enjoyed his trips to the casino and playing cards with family and friends over the years.
He is survived by his daughter, Celeste (Matthew) Aldridge; grandsons, Adam and Aaron Estness, and Eric Williams; great-granddaughter, Asherah; brothers, Leonard Sojka, and Raymond (Janice) Sojka; brother-in-law, Richard Rusch; nieces and nephews, Lenny (Jackie) Sojka, Jon Jay Sojka, Danny Ray (Jacquelyn) Sojka, Tami Beth Sojka, Danielle Connolly, RaeAnn Sojka, Steven Sojka, Patricia (Dennis) Johnson, Bob Stanford, and many great-nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathryn “Kitty” Sojka; daughter, Jackie Sojka; son, Robert “Buddy” Williams; sister, Violet Rusch, and sister-in-law, Beverly Sojka.
Per Jack’s wishes, no services will be held. Interment will be in Sunrise Cemetery.
