Jacqueline "Jackie" M. Labelle

Jacqueline “Jackie” LaBelle, 70, Iron River, WI resident, died Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at St. Mary’s Hospice in Superior.

She was born on March 9, 1939 in Lake Linden, MI to Edward and Margaret (Maierle) Pellerin.

She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Laurium, MI. In 1959, she married her high school sweetheart John LaBelle also of Laurium.

After surviving several battles with cancer earlier in her life, Jackie worked for the town of Hughes as treasurer and town clerk. Later, she worked for Security State Bank, Brule and eventually became the manager and later transferred to Iron River and became a loan officer and insurance agent. She was a member of the Duluth/Superior chapter of the American Institute of Banking. Jackie was actively involved in the Brule River Sportsman Club and the Iron River Snowmobile Club. She loved to be involved in her community. In 1997, Jackie was elected as Iron River clerk and continued to assist part-time until she resigned this past summer. She was active with the Lions Club of Brule and Iron River, Rebekah Lodge #192 and last year she was appointed to the Bayfield County Zoning Board. Jackie was the treasurer of the Trails North ATV Club and enjoyed all club events and loved to ride her ATV.

Jackie is survived by her daughter, Eileen La Belle, close friend, Craig Herling, Iron River, WI; granddaughter, Jennifer Bruneau, Ashland, WI; daughter Pamela LaBelle (Grant) Gay, Minn., MN, grandson, Jetson Gay, Minn., MN; sister, Marilyn (Bernard) Ouellette, Wetmore, MI; aunt Sister Liberata Pellerin, Concordia, KS, aunt, Marie (Joseph) Sullivan, Marquette, MI, uncle, Joseph (Regina) Strucel, Redford, MI and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Gerald and Francis Pellerin.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 9, 2010 in the Iron River Community Center, 8275 East Mill Street, Iron River, WI and continue until the 11:00 AM memorial service with a luncheon to follow.

The Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior is assisting the family with arrangements.
