Jacqueline C. "Jackie" Kmecik

Jacqueline C. “Jackie” Kmecik, 72, lifelong Superior resident, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014 in her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born on July 11, 1941 in Superior to Carroll and Gladys (Maley) Starkey.

She received her registered nursing degree and had been employed at Miller Dwan Hospital, Fraser Shipyards and retired from the Duluth Paper Mill.

Jackie was a member of P.A.W.S., the Boys and Girls Club and the Superior Senior Citizens Center.

She is survived by four sons, Darrell, Kevin, Roland “Steve” Kmecik and Brian (Jackie) Kmecik all of Superior; seven grandchildren, Jeff, Tayler, MacKenzie, Kobie, Trevor, Ashley and Brandon; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie Heino, Superior and Judy Brown, Prior Lake, MN.

She was preceded in death by her son Michael; her parents and a brother, Gene Starkey.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM and will continue until the 3:00 PM Memorial Service on Friday, July 11, 2014 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home with Rev. H. Duane Aslyn, officiating.

Honorary pallbearers for the service will be Sena Golat, Ann Dumonsau, Roxeanne Pawielski, Troy Brown, Jason Brown, Lisa Miller, Jack Heino, Jeanne Starkey, Cathy Starkey, David Starkey and Gene Starkey.
