Jacqueline L. Walen, 69, longtime resident of Port Wing, died Wednesday, September 28, 2016.
She was born October 24, 1946 to Jack and Hildegarde (Woock) Walen in Miwaukee, WI.
Jackie graduated from John Marshall High School in Milwaukee, and obtained her associates degree in Medical Transcription from the Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College in Superior, WI.
She was employed as an office administrator at the Presbytery of Northern Waters for over seventeen years.
She was a longtime member of the First Lutheran Church in Port Wing. She was also a member of the Monday Evening Club, the Port Wing Fish Boil Club and the Port Wing Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.
Jackie was an avid Packer Fan and Jackie enjoyed critters, wild life, especially birds and she loved flowers. She also enjoyed spending time at her family cottage in Chinatown on Long Lake.
In her younger years Jackie enjoyed playing baseball, bowling, volleyball and arts and crafts.
She is survived by her son, Jonathan Walen, Port Wing, WI; sister, Janis (Ray) Schroeder, Cascade, WI; longtime friend, Jerry Meier, Port Wing, WI; Jonathan’s father, Matthew Kroll, Bayfield, WI; nephews Kurt (Dana) Schroeder, Greenfield, WI and Ryan Schroeder, Plymouth, WI; great-nieces, Veronica and Cami; great-nephew, Jack and her “grandog”, Cujo.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held from 5-7:30 PM Friday, September 30, 2016 in
the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 East Fifth Street, Superior. Visitation will resume at 9:30 AM on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the First Lutheran Church in Port Wing, and will continue until the 10:30 AM Memorial Service.
