James M. Anderson, 84, longtime area resident, died Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Twin Ports Health Services in Superior, WI. He was born in Dairyland, WI, on June 19, 1935, the son of Fred and Mildred (Zach) Anderson.
Jim earned his Science Teaching Certificate and his Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Superior-Wisconsin. He served his country honorably in the Army National Guard for many years.
He was united in marriage to Joan Schweiger, April 21, 1958, and they celebrated sixty-one years of marriage before his passing.
Jim taught Science in Colfax, and Iron Ridge, WI to Middle School students. He worked as a project manager for over forty years first at Lakehead Constructors Inc. and then finishing his career at Alliance Steel Construction Inc. before retiring in 1996.
Jim was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Superior, and the Superior Elks Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout Northwestern Wisconsin and was a skilled carpenter and cabinet maker. Jim and his wife, Joan, traveled from their lake place in Northwestern WI to Green Valley, AZ every year for over twenty years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan L. Anderson, Minong, WI; sons, Daniel Anderson, Phoenix, AZ, Robert (Marcia) Anderson, South Range, WI and Stephen (Jeanine) Anderson, Superior, WI; daughter, Cindy Robertson, Cable, WI; grandchildren, Nick, Heather, Peter, Rebecca, Andrew, Joseph, Jacob and Megan; great-grandchildren, Stephen, and Mara; sister, Mary Lou Conley, South Range, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Anderson; and brothers-in-law, James Conley, and Richard Schweiger.
Visitation will begin at 10 A.M., on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Faith United Methodist Church, 1532 Hughitt Avenue, Superior, and will continue until the 11 A.M. Memorial Service with Rev. Joel Certa-Werner officiating. Burial will be in Minong, WI at a later date.
