James L. Brannon, 83, Lake Nebagamon, WI died on Thursday, May 8, 2025. He was of very strong faith and joined those who loved him in heaven with his Lord and Savior. Jim was born May 13, 1941, in Fort Madison, IA, the son of Ernest and Wilma (Browning) Brannon. He graduated in 1959 from Fort Madison High School and immediately enlisted in the United States Navy. He served as a diesel submariner aboard the SS365 Hardhead and the SS408 Sennet. After receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to Fort Madison. enrolling in DeVry University in Chicago to complete his electrical education.

Jim was a member of the Naval and Army Reserves. He joined his parents in their established business, Ernie’s West End. Then he ventured on to a chemical plant in Fort Madison, and moved to Donaldsonville, LA, where he stayed and retired from Triad Industries.

While pursuing his love of this country, history, hunting, guns, motorcycles and the woods, he penned and published two novels while enjoying his retirement in the Northland.

Jim was a very patriotic, private, proud man who leaves behind a small circle of friends and family who shall miss him deeply. Following Jim’s request there will be no memorial service. He will have a private graveside service with full military honors by the Gordon American Legion post of which he was a member.
