James Elsroy Conley

James Elsroy Conley, 84, Town of Oakland, passed away on January 22, 2016.

He was born on November 28, 1931 in Superior, WI to Leroy and Elsie (Kindal) Conley.

Jim graduated from the former Central High School and then went on to serve his country in the National Guard.

He married Mary Louise Anderson on December 6, 1952 in Superior and recently celebrated 63 years of marriage.

He was an entrepreneur who started Range Builders Supply, specializing in Retail Sales, Construction of Storage Buildings, and Real Estate Development.

Jim was a member of Country Peace Presbyterian Church and the Lumberman’s Association.

He enjoyed going to auctions, hunting, “Chicken Day” and spending time with his family.

Jim will be sadly missed by his family and friends, and especially those who would come to enjoy a cup of coffee and conversation every day in the lumberyard office. As a family, we will do our best to lovingly carry on his legacy.

In addition to his wife Mary Lou, Jim is survived by five sons: Mike (Patty) Conley, Pat (Deanne) Conley, Brian (Cindy Michalski) Conley, Jay (Allison) Conley all residing in Town of Oakland and Greg (Mary Tennis) Conley, Duluth, MN. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three brothers, William (Vonda) Conley, Massachusetts, Richard (Helen) Conley, Superior, Jerry ‘Butch’ (Rosie) Conley, California and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Kathryn, a grandson; Alistair ‘A.J.’ Conley, and one brother, Leroy ‘Sonny’ Conley.

The memorial service will occur at a later date.

Jim’s family would like to thank Dr. Daniel Nikovich and the wonderful, caring staff at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Intensive Care Unit, Palliative Care Unit, the Emergency room and Villa Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care of Jim.
