James A. Derosia Sr.

James Allen DeRosia Sr, 78, longtime resident of Iron River, WI, passed away with his family by his side, on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at Villa Marina in Superior. James was born on October 12, 1944, in Blueberry, WI, the son of William and Myrtle (Sharp) DeRosia.

James was united in marriage to Carrie Tanula on April 23, 1990, in Superior, WI and they were soon to celebrate 33 years of marriage.

He was a longtime member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, a former member of the Lions Club in Iron River and the Moose Lodge 606 in Superior. One of his greatest accomplishments was being a part of the opening and managing the Fig Leaf Store in Iron River for 20 years. James was also very proud of his work at St. Mary’s in Superior and the Parkland Health Facility.

In his free time, James loved to hunt and fish around the Iron River area. His greatest joy was spending time with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James is survived by his loving wife Carrie, Iron River; his sons, James (Chelli) and  Matthew, all of Superior, WI, Jason (Gina Viola), Silver Bay, MN, Joe (Holli), South Range, WI, and Tony Bowen, Portage, WI; daughter, Mary (Dave Martin) Roelke, Belleville, WI; step-daughter, Bonnie Brannan, Minong, WI; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Wolfe, Texas, Rose Ranthum, Cloquet, MN, and Dorothy Scott, Superior, WI, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; stepdaughter, Diane Walsh; brothers and sisters, Bernadine, Gene, Anna Mae, Theresa, Dick, Loretta, Patty, Billy, Lois, Barb, Margaret, and Rita Marie.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 68160 S. George St, Iron River, WI, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Service with Pastor Scott Stai, of Hope Lutheran Chruch in Oulu, WI, officiating.

Burial will be at a later date.
