James R. "Jim" Hulter

James R. "Jim" Hulter, 83, died Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Twin Ports Health Services in Superior, WI.

A lifelong resident of Superior, Jim was born on October 9, 1935, the son of Ray and Polly (Chaffey) Hulter. He married his high school sweetheart, Jean MacInnes, on November 3, 1956 and they celebrated 63 years together before her death in 2014.

Jim graduated from Central High School and was employed with Murphy Oil as a maintenance engineer for over 30 years before his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman and spent many weekends and vacations hunting, fishing, camping and canoeing with his young family and friends. Wild or domestic, Jim loved animals. He was also an avid fan of stock car racing and was an enthusiastic volunteer at Superior's Tri-State Speedway.

Jim is survived by his daughters, Lynn Hulter of Superior and Susan (Mark) Howard of Gordon, WI; three grandchildren, Leo Orsoni of Superior,  Margaret and Elizabeth Howard, both of Gordon, WI; sister Kathy McDonald and brothers Gerry and Jack Hulter, all of Superior; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, and his parents.

The family requests that anyone wishing to contribute financially, make a donation to the Douglas County Human Society, 138 Moccasin Mike Rd., Superior, WI 54880. Jim would have wanted all those animals to have a home.

Jim's family would also like to express their profound gratitude to all who cared for Jim during his final days. To the staff at Villa Marina, Twin Ports Health Services and especially St Luke's Hospital and St Luke's Hospice, thank you. You all made this journey a little bit easier.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Friday, April 5, 2019, at Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th. Memorial service, officiated by Gary Banker, will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Summit Cemetery at a later date.
