James (Jim) E. Green, 86, of Superior, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 15, 2024, at New Perspective Senior Living.
Jim was born on June 9, 1937, to Emil and Lila (Jacobson) Green, in Ashland, WI. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1956. On June 25, 1960, he married Frances (Kathy) Plachta. They resided in Superior for 63 years. Jim was employed with Wisconsin Bell Telephone for 37 years, retiring in 1995. He also spent a short amount of time activated with the Wisconsin National Guard in the early 1960’s.
Jim’s wife and family were very important to him as was his walk with the Lord. He spent many years as an active member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Superior, and more recently attended Mission Covenant Church in Poplar, WI. He loved the Lord with all his heart and strived to live out his faith. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin as well as spending time outdoors. He was an avid hunter, trapper, and fisherman. He is survived by his wife Frances (Kathy) and their two children; James Jr. (Denise) Green of Oostburg, WI, and Frances (Kent) VanderMeiden of Superior, WI; three grandchildren: James III (Mia) Green, Alexandra (Collin) Kappl, Grace VanderMeiden; and two great-grandchildren: James IV and Evelyn. He is also survived by his brother, Harvey Green of New Mexico; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Lila; his stepmother, Taimi; sisters Lola and Lleaellyn; and brother Clifford.

The family would like to thank New Perspective Senior Living staff and St. Luke’s Hospice for the compassionate care they have shown Jim and his family through this difficult time.
A private family memorial service will be held at a future date.
