Jim Kubala, 64, longtime Douglas County resident, died Monday, December 9, 2019 at his home in Solon Springs, WI. He was born in Superior, January 7, 1955, the son of Edward and Helen (Alto) Kubala.
He was a graduate of Northwestern High School and attended Superior Vocation Institute.
He worked at Fraser Shipyards as a welder and boilermaker, and was a superintendent at Reuben Johnson Construction where he worked on highway construction for many years before he retired in 2016. He was a member of the Volunteer Fire Dept. in Hawthorne, WI, and of the Vintage Snowmobile Club of America.
He is survived by his daughter, Bridget Kubala, Superior, WI: sons, Keith Kubala, Eau Claire, WI, and Mike (Nicole) Kubala, Barnes, WI; the mother of his children, Karen Kubala, Superior, WI; grandchildren, Colburn, and Crosby; brother, Tom Kubala, Chicago, IL; sister, Kim (Bob) Mathias, Anaheim, CA; Aunt, Dorothy (Leon) Nord, Superior, WI; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Cheryl Clark.
A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held from 5-7:00 PM, Monday, December 16, 2019, at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 East 5 th Street, Superior.
