James "Jim" E. Madsen, 61, Lake Nebagamon, WI, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019 due to complications from diabetes. He was born on March 13, 1957 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Superior to John and Jean (Westlund) Madsen. He was born into a family of 6 sets of twins beginning with his great-grandmother.
He served in the United States Army. Jim worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad as a mechanic for many years.
Jim was a member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa in Hayward, WI and was proud of his Native American Heritage. Jim loved nature, fishing the Brule, hunting and gardening. He also loved playing guitar. He spent much time with his grandmother, Emelia Westlund on the homestead farm. Jim loved his friends and family and his cat named Bear. He will be missed by many.
He is preceded in death by his sister June Maureen Madsen, grandparents Emelia and Ernest Westlund and Harriet and John Madsen, brother-in-law Mark Routh.
Jim is survived by his parents, John and Jean Madsen; twin sons, Jeffrey and James; daughter, Stevie Rae; two grandsons, Tyler and Cameron; sister, Jane Routh; brother, John Madsen; sister-in-law, Jennifer Madsen; nephews, Ryan, Nathan (Jess) and Joshua; niece Robin; grandniece, Kimberly Marie and many aunts and uncles.
A family gathering will be held at a later date.
