James R. Milchesky, 72, Superior resident, died Saturday, February 13, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth. He was born on February 21, 1943 in Baraboo, WI to James and Marie (Weston) Milchesky.
Jim served his country in the United States Army Guard as sergeant with 724th headquarters company from Superior, WI. He was called up for active duty during the Berlin Crisis in 1961, and it lasted for over one year. Jim and his good friend Ed Sitek (deceased) had many good times reminiscing how fun it was during the City of Superior's Fourth of July parade, driving the big army tank down Tower Avenue.
He was the produce manager for National Tea Foods and Del Farms for many years before going to Wentworth Co-op where he was a butcher and Manager. He also worked at the South Superior Round house rebuilding railroad cars.
Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman to the extreme... gun, black powder, bow, and even cross bow and fishing with his grandkids. He had many hobbies, putting pictures together for his grand kids, smoking fish and game and making the best smoked sausages and fish he could.
Jim was devoted to his only daughter Shari, his grandkids and great-grand kids, they were his love of his life!
James is survived by one daughter, Shari (Andrew) Freeman, Corning, CA; four grandsons, Anthony, Justin, Jacob and Levi Freeman; two great-grandchildren, Akoni and Mia; his mother, Marie Hayes; one sister (his twin), Karen Nolan and one brother, Tom (Shirley) Milchesky, all of Superior, WI; niece, Kristen and nephews, Mike, Eric and Sean.
He is preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 22, 2016 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the service will be Mike Milchesky, Mike Bergstrom and Dan Grymala.
