James "Oly" B. Olson

James B. “Oly” Olson, 59, longtime Superior resident, passed away peacefully Friday, January 4, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. He was born on September 20, 1959 in Superior, WI to Arthur and Muriel (Alenius) Olson.

Oly was employed as a delivery truck driver for Auto Value in Duluth, MN. He married Suzanne “Suzie” Sather on July 11, 2003 and celebrated fifteen years of marriage. Oly was a member of the Superior Men’s Pool League. He enjoyed camping, fishing and playing pool. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. He loved spending time telling jokes and stories with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Oly is survived by his wife, Suzie; three daughters, Jamie Olson, Courtney (Zack) Lieble and Christina (Brandon) Derick; one son, Taylor Sanders; four grandchildren, Trevor and Caylee Derick and James and Chase Lieble, all of Superior, WI; two sisters, Julie (Doug) Peterson, Solon Springs, WI and Jill (Paul) Olson, Superior, WI; one brother, John (Jeanine Rybak) Olson, Superior, WI; mother-in-law, Marlys Sather, Superior, WI and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, nephew Jerry Peterson, father-in-law, John Sather and brother-in-law, Mark Sather.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5 ^th Street, Superior and continue until the 1:00 PM memorial service with Gary Banker officiating.
