James T. Pawlikowski, 77, lifelong Superior resident, died Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. He was born on April 1, 1940 in Superior, WI to Walter and Margaret (DeBruyne) Pawlikowski.
He graduated from the former Cathedral High School. After high school, he served in the National Guard and attended vocational college. He had several jobs including work on the pipeline in Florida and at the Rambler car plant in Kenosha.Jim then trained with a power company in southern Wisconsin as a lineman which was the beginning of his career as an electrician. He returned to Superior where he was employed as a journeyman electrician with the IBFW Union 242 for many years.
Jim liked to laugh. He had an adventurous spirit which sometimes got him into minor trouble and resulted in many funny stories. He liked to work with his hands and dabbled in many things. He fixed cars, motors and electronics. He loved gardening. He was fond of all animals and his backyard was full of wildlife. He had a little dog named Spike which he loved and carried around so much it looked like Jim had a furry hand. He was family oriented. He was resourceful and enjoyed being thrifty.
James married Patricia (Newman) Blomquist on June 21, 1978 in Superior, WI and they celebrated thirty-nine years of marriage.
James is survived by his wife, Patricia; three stepchildren, Robert “Bob” (Colleen) Blomquist and Brett (Tammy Stalvig) Blomquist, both of Superior, WI and Lori (Blomquist) Beheng, Alexandra, MN; five step grandchildren; one son, Gary (Brenda), Duluth, MN; three grandchildren; siblings, Thomas (Sharon) Pawlikowski, Tower, MN, Mary Jo (Mike) Palmowski, Eveleth, MN, Julie (Doug) Toms, Cincinnati, OH and Betty Kay (Tom Hudacek) Pawlikowski, Superior, WI and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Margaret Pawlikowski, brother, Dr. Walter Pawlikowski, Jr and his beloved dog Spiky. “We love you and will miss you. Mom, Dad, Spiky and Walt are waiting for you.”
Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home and continue until the 12:00 PM memorial service.
