James A. “Peanut” Thompson, 55, lifelong Superior resident, died on
Friday, June 10, 2016 at his residence. He was born on February 28, 1961 to Bernerd and Wilma Thompson DeRoo.
He was a longtime auto body man for Kari Toyota. He was self-employed for several decades. He had been restoring and painting cars since he was a teenager and owned many classic muscle cars over the years. He loved cars, racing, motorcycles and anything you could speed in! He also gave funny nicknames to all his friends and they are still known by them to this day. Since he was a “Leap Year” baby, he often joked he was much younger then he was.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, by his father
Bernerd Thompson, mother Wilma (Thompson) DeRoo, stepfather Harry P. DeRoo and nephews Bill Skylondz, Jamie Soleim and Travis Thompson.
He is survived by his daughter, Holly Thompson, Superior, WI; grandson, Austin Burkhart; his former wife, Tracy Thompson of Superior; three sisters, Donna Thompson of Superior, Trudy (Derry) Flynn and Gloria (John) Skylondz, both of Hayward, WI; four brothers, Jason (Richele) DeRoo of South Range, Bernie (Tanya) Thompson of Minong, Thomas (Ann) Thompson of New Mexico and Daniel (Dee) Thompson of Texas. He also had many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th Street, Superior and continue until the 6:00 PM memorial service.
