Jamie Lee Ross, 45, longtime Superior, WI resident, passed away Monday, September 30, 2024. He was born July 21, 1979, the son of James and LouAnn Ross and Kelly Borelli.
A 1997 graduate from Superior Senior High, he went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Superior and a Master’s degree from St. Scholastica in social work.
He married Amanda Johnson on September 30, 2011 in Grand Rapids, MN. They created a life together in Superior over the next 13 years with their two sons, Grant and Kaison.
Jamie was employed at Northwood Children Services for 20 years and most recently served as Program Director. He volunteered as a coach for Superior Youth Organization for several years. Most recently he was active in coaching his young sons. He impacted a significant number of young lives through his involvement in youth sports and also in his dedication to his work at Northwood Children Services.
Family and friends meant the world to him. He loved participating with his children in sporting activities, could often be found playing catch with his boys in the yard, a family day on the lake, or choosing team members for fantasy football. He loved fishing, especially with his sons. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching a Twins or Viking game with friends and family.
Jamie is survived by his wife, Amanda Ross; children, Grant and Kaison; his parents, Jim and LouAnn Ross; siblings: Sean Ross, Andy Ross, Tony (Kirstin) Drake, Matthew Olson and Jasmine Drake; grandparents: Maryanne Ross, Judy Johnson, Lloyd (Judy) VanGuilder; fathers-in-law, Jay Johnson and James Ossefoort; brothers-in-law: Joey (Amber) Johnson, Jason Johnson, Kyle (Eppie) Ossefoort; sister-in-law, Stacy (Toby) Holmgren; biological mother, Kelly Coddington; many nieces and nephews and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry Ross, Jr, Bill (Evelyn) Carliano, and Brian Johnson; mother-in-law, Tammy Ossefoort; uncles Phillip Johnson and Todd VanGuilder, and beloved pets, Rufus and Bregan.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jamie’s honor to Superior Youth Organization, (SYO) at PO BOX 991, Superior, WI 54880.
Visitation is from 2:00 PM-6:00 PM, Sunday, October 6, 2024 at Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue in Superior. Visitation will continue at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 7, 2024 at Christ Lutheran Church, 320 N 28th St in Superior, with a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM, Pastor Kirk Schield and Gary Banker co-officiants.
