Janet Frances Follis, 86, a longtime resident of Brule, WI, died peacefully on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Superior Health and Rehabilitation Center in Superior, WI. She was born in Oulu, WI, January 9, 1936, the daughter of Heino and Ina (Colby) Jacobson.
Janet was a 1953 graduate of South Shore High School. She went on to marry the love of her life, William Follis on September 19, 1953, and they celebrated sixty-eight years of marriage before her passing.
Together, they owned and operated the family farm in Brule, WI where they raised sheep, dairy and beef cattle.
Janet was a longtime active member of Brule Presbyterian Church where she served in various capacities. She had a passion for cooking and catering and catered many events in the area over the years. Janet could often be found catering and serving at various properties on the Brule River. She especially loved preparing beautiful meals and caring for the people on those properties. In her free time, she enjoyed weaving rugs on her old-fashioned loom. Above all, Janet was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Janet was survived by her beloved husband, Bill Follis, who passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN just hours after her. She is further survived by her four sons, Terry Follis, Ashland, WI, Scott (Betsy) Follis, Lake Nebagamon, WI, Timothy (Francine) Follis, Brule, WI and Jon (Kim) Follis, Oulu, WI; daughter, Gianna (Joe) Parenteau, Hughes, WI; eight grandchildren, Hannah (Bruce) Becker, Bloomington, MN, Heidi (Ryan) Huebscher, Rosemont, MN, Timothy (Courtney) Follis, Sun Prairie, WI, Tanner Follis, Bloomington, MN, Clifford (Lindsay) Follis, Maple, WI, Jacob (Natalie) Follis, Iron River, WI, Devin Doskey, Great Falls, MT, and Dustin Doskey, Duluth, MN; three great-grandchildren, Brooks, Bronson, and Kacy, and six more expectant great-grandchildren due to arrive in 2022; two sisters, Betty Reijo, Iron River, WI, and Barbara (Bob) Anderson, Lake Nebagamon, WI; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and uncle, Emil Colby, Sheboygan, WI;
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Irene (Ray) Koski, and her brother, Clifford (Kathy) Jacobson.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Janet’s Life will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at the Brule Town Hall, 5820 Maple Street, Brule, WI. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM followed by a service at 11:00 AM.
Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery at a later date.
