Janet Kay Ledin, 70, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 7, 2023. A lifelong resident of Superior, she was born on August 17, 1953, the daughter of Arthur and Joan (Bleyenberg) Dhooge.
She was a graduate of Superior Senior High School, class of 1971, and went on to further her education earning her associate degree in marketing from Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College and attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
Janet was united in marriage to Larry Ledin on September 18, 1976, and they were soon to celebrate forty-seven years of marriage. They built a loving home together and raised two children, all of which she adored greatly.
Janet had an immense love of family, friends, children, and animals. A devoted mother and caregiver through and through, she tirelessly took great care of family and friends in need. A provider in countless ways, from going above and beyond as a preschool teacher at Cathedral School, to tending to the needs of elderly relatives, and to her thoughtful gifts and cards – she was always thinking of others.
Dogs were an important part of Janet’s life, especially her beloved yorkies. Most recently her dog Indy held a most special place in her heart, and almost never left her side (you may have seen Indy’s head poking out of Janet’s jacket at the grocery store!).
Janet was an avid shopper and loved getting out to local shops and events to purchase thoughtful items for herself as well as all the special people in her life.
A great cook, Janet loved a good meal with family or friends. A good, hot cup of coffee was a daily joy. With that next coffee, think of Janet, and hug your loved ones, just like she did.
Above all, Janet was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed by her beloved husband, Larry Ledin, Superior, WI; daughter, Amy Ledin, Duluth, MN; son, Brian (Pamela) Ledin, Washburn, WI; brothers, Jerry (Kay) Dhooge, Solon Springs, WI, and Dan (Mary) Dhooge, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; sister, JoAnn Dens, of Arizona, and several nieces and nephews. She also had many friends which she considered family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and niece, Kim (Dhooge) Schillinger.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM, Friday, September 22, 2023, at Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th Street, Superior, and will continue until the 12:00 PM Memorial Service with Gary Banker officiating.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
