Janet L Modeen

Janet L. Modeen, 96, Iron River area resident, died February 6, 2015 at the Ashland Health and rehabilitation center in Ashland, Wisconsin.

She was born in Superior, Wisconsin on January 2, 1919 the daughter of Edward and Ida (Nelson) Johnson.

Janet was employed as a telegrapher for the railroad, was a clerk for Kresges, Janet owned and operated Rainbow Video in Iron River.

She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Iron River and was active in the Church Choir. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge, # 192 and served in several offices leading to Noble Grand. Janet was flag bearer for Rebekah Grand Lodge of Wisconsin.

She was a past member of the WWBC Wisconsin Women’s Bowlers Congress.

Janet was an avid football fan enjoying any team that was playing especially the Green Bay Packers.

She enjoyed fishing with her husband Walter before his passing.

She is survived by two daughters, Reenie Modeen and Sue Lindquist both of Iron River. She was “Granny” to Chris, Luke and Wesley Lindquist; Steve (Lori) Lindquist; Alyssa (Zach) Pagels and Teller; Jeremy (Angela Mattson) Lindquist and Bobbi Jean Kneeland; Sister-in-law, Ann Modeen; Dozen’s of nieces and nephews; special friends, Rita, Dorothy and Cindy; her Rebekah sisters and her furry Companions, Lucky and Lucy.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband Walter; brothers, Ernie Johnson, Archie Johnson, twin brother, James Johnson and one sister Anna Johnson.

Visitation will began at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Iron River, WI and continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Service with Pastor Kristin Jenson, officiating.

Janet’s “Granny Kids” will be recognized as honorary pallbearers.

Should Friends desire, Memorials may be made in Janet’s name to Our Saviors Lutheran Church Choir or any humane society of the givers choice.
