Janet E. Raik, 89, lifelong Superior resident, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at Villa Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center in Superior.
She was born on April 4, 1924, in Superior, Wis. to John and Beth (Wheaton) Osborne.
Janet was a nurse's aid for St. Mary's Hall and St. Francis Rest Home for many years retiring in 1982. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Superior.
Janet loved reading, traveling and playing bridge. She also was an avid Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packer fan.
Janet is survived by two daughters, Margaret (Herman) Hoffman, North Carolina and Mary Omberg, Superior; four grandchildren, Cristie Harbour, Hermantown, Minn., Patricia (Ken) Hedrick, South Carolina, Paul (Sara) Omberg, Esko, Minn. and Scott (Robin) Omberg, Grand Rapids, Minn.; six great-grandchildren, Alex Bartlett, Zach, Haley and Nick Hedrick and Will and David Omberg and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, son-in-law Jack Omberg, her parents, brothers, John and Donald Osborne and sisters, Margaret Patchin, Jane Greely, and Jessie Johnson.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior and will continue until the 12 noon memorial service.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.
Janet's grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be recognized as honorary pallbearers.
