Janet H. Rissky, 83, longtime Superior resident, died peacefully, Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Twin Ports Health Services in Superior. She was born in Elkhorn, WI, March 8, 1937, the daughter of Merlyn and Helen (Webster) Loomer.
She graduated high school in Lake Geneva, WI in 1955, and later, to be closer to Lake Superior, she moved to Two Harbors, MN where she owned and operated an Upholstery Shop for over fifty years.
Janet was a collector of collections, her favorites were her eagle’s, lighthouses, and her thimbles. She loved music so much that she taught herself guitar and shared her talents with the world by playing the guitar, and singing with the community choir that she cherished so much, Spiritwind. She also loved puzzles, journaling, family genealogy, and traveling, especially to Alaska.
Janet, known to family and friends as “Beeda”, was well known for her theme song, It’s Me Again Lord and, when asked “How are you doing Beeda”, her ever popular response was always “I’m doing all I can, and the dumb ones twice!”
Beeda was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, and will be dearly missed by all.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy (John) Fellbaum; daughter-in-law, Mary Rissky-Hedin; grandchildren, Nicholas (Nicole) Fellbaum, James John “Jamie” (Kelli) Rissky, III; Ian (Erika) Fellbaum, and Taylor Fellbaum; great-grandchildren, Katherine, Iz, Morgan, Laylani, Judah, and a great-grandchild on the way, due June 2021; brother, Merle Loomer; sister, Jackie Grever; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, all of whom she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by the father of her children, James John Rissky Sr.; son, James John Rissky Jr.; sister, Joyce (Loomer) Grever; and her parents.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Twin Ports Health Services for the kind, loving care they provided our “Beeda” during her stay.
Due to the current restrictions on group gatherings, a Celebration of Beeda’s Life will be held at a later date.
Cremation Service of Superior, 403 E Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. To leave a condolence or sign the guestbook, please visit our website at www.lenroot-maetzold.com .
