Janice M. Rochon, 69, Superior, died Monday, January 31, 2011 in Essentia Health Medical Center, Duluth.
She was born on July 5, 1941 in Superior to John and Margaret (St. George) Rutkowski and was a lifelong Superior resident.
She married Richard Rochon on September 3, 1959 and celebrated fifty-one years of marriage.
Janice had been employed with the Lake Superior Laundry for many years.
She was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #80 Auxiliary since 1979 where she enjoyed her charity works and loved cooking for large numbers of people for activities and events.
She enjoyed spending as much time as possible, during the summer, at their place in Solon Springs, with family and friends, where she enjoyed fishing and pontooning. She also enjoyed craft work and sewing.
In addition to her husband Richard, Janice is survived by one daughter, Jean (Jeff) Vandenberghe, Superior; two sons, Rick (Beverly) Rochon, Superior, Robert (Jodi) Rochon, Superior; eight grandchildren, Christopher, Jim, Wayne, Travis, Sarah, Ricky, Tyler and Chad; one great-grandson, Darrell; four sisters, Darlene (Gus) Gustafson, Tacoma, WA, Ruthann (Charles) Borghwart, Janesville, WI, Donna Pitoscia, Superior, Leola (Melvin) Beckwell, Superior; three brothers, Albert Rutkowski, Solon Springs, WI, Bernard (Nelda) St. George, Solon Springs, WI, Steven (Kathy) Rutkowski, Savage, MN and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, John Michael Rochon; two sisters, Phyllis Wick and Karen McGrath and one brother, Dick Rutkowski.
There will be a Celebration of
Janice’s life on Friday, February 4, 2011 beginning at 10:00 AM until 12 Noon in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home.
Janice’s grandchildren will be recognized as honorary pallbearers.
