Janice M. Saari

Janice M. Saari, 75, Duluth, died Monday, January 1, 2018 at Ecumen Lakeshore Assisted Living Facility in Duluth, MN. She was born on March 26, 1942 in Duluth, MN to Holger and Hildegard (Callies) Bjorklund.

Janice graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Education from St. Thomas University in St. Paul, MN. Janice was a teacher for the White Bear Lake School District, retiring with over thirty years of service.

She married Roger Saari on August 13, 1966 and they celebrated fifty-one years of marriage. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Superior and former member of St. Stevens Lutheran Church in White Bear Lake, MN.

Janice is survived by her husband, Roger; one son, Andy (Shelly Bong) Saari, Superior, WI; one daughter, Teri (Vinny) Aliotta, New York; five grandchildren, Annikka, Hannah, Bridget, Molly and Philip. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, 2022 E. 2 ^nd Street, Superior and continue until the 12:00 PM funeral service with Pastor Victor St. George officiating.  Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery in Duluth. Should friends desire, memorials may be made in Janice’s name to Zion Lutheran Church in Superior.
