Jayne M. Soar

Jayne Marie Soar, 63, lifelong Superior resident died Friday, May 12, 2023, at her home with her husband by her side.

She was born in Superior, WI on April 17, 1960, the daughter of Nelson and Mary Jane (Mesner) Gonia.

Jayne was united in marriage to Derek Soar on May 27, 1994, and they were soon to celebrate twenty-nine years of marriage.

She enjoyed gardening, playing cards and dice, and baking. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband, Derek Soar, Superior, WI; daughter, Janelle Manley, Superior, WI; mother and stepfather, Mary Jane (Gerald) Deering, Rochester, MN; sisters, Kathy Ewing and Donna Turner, both of Superior, WI, Myrna Thompson, Duluth, MN, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, Nelson “Dan” Gonia, and sister, Therys Koenen.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 19, 2023, at Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue in Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Service with Pastor Victor St. George officiating.
