Jean Anne Larsen

Jean Anne Larsen, age 65, of Superior, WI, formerly of Brule, WI, died Saturday, June 21, 2025 unexpectedly at her home in Superior, WI.

Jean was born June 3, 1960, in Superior to Corey and Jean Mathiassen. She graduated from Superior Senior High School. On August 15, 1990, she married the love of her life, Richard Larsen of Superior. Rick and Jean spent many happy years in Brule, where they raised their children Steven, Lindsy, Matthew, and Michael.

Jean loved to garden, play pool, take her children and their friends swimming, cooking for her family, walking the kids to the ballfield to watch Rick play softball, and enjoying the occasional motorcycle ride with her brother Andrew. She loved spending time with all her pets, especially taking her dogs for long walks. Jean and her best friend Sherri were all but inseparable for over 30 years. Whether it was taking their children swimming, playing Yahtzee or just hanging out, they always had the best of times. Jean had many different professions in her life including cooking at various establishments, working at Superior Optics, TRI and retired from EverGreen Energy.

Jean was the proudest grandma of 12, with an exceptionally close bond with Alezea Holmberg and Owen Larsen.

After retiring, Jean loved to have friends and family over, watch her favorite TV shows and spend time with Owen. Jean felt blessed to be the daycare provider to Owen for his first 4 years of life. She will be desperately missed.

Jean is survived by her husband of 35 years, Richard Larsen of Superior; son, Steven Larsen of Superior; son, Michael Larsen of Superior; daughter, Lindsy Groskreutz of Superior; and son, Matthew Larsen of Oklahoma; former daughter-in-law Jennette Parker of Superior; brother, Andrew (Kristi) Mathiassen of Superior; sister, Mary (Dan) Hunter of Minneapolis; 12 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and best friend Sherri (Dave) Ludwig.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents Corey and Jean Mathiassen, and infant sister, Sarah Mathiassen.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 16th at the Belgian Club, 3931 E 2nd Street from 2:00-6:00 pm in Superior.
