Jean E. Mathiassen

Jean E. Mathiassen, 92, Superior resident, died Friday, April 15, 2016 at Harmony House in Superior. She was born on October 4, 1923, in Superior, WI to Conrad and Blanche (Wagnild) Jackson.

Jean married Corey Mathiassen on October 18, 1947 and they celebrated sixty-five years of marriage before his passing in March of 2013.

She was a longtime active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
She loved spending time with her family and friends.

Jean is survived by two daughters, Mary Ellen (Dan) Hunter, Richfield, MN and Jean Anne (Rick) Larsen, Superior, WI; one son, Andrew Mathiassen, Superior, WI; grandchildren, Sarah Cheatham, Maren Schumacher, Emma and William Hunter, Lindsey Groskreutz, Matthew, Steven and Michael Larsen and eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard W. Jackson and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Corey, her parents, sister Arlie Dahl.

Visitation will begin after 3:00 PM on Thursday, April 21, 2016 in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and continue until the 4:00 PM funeral service with Pastor Sarah Kerkes officiating.

The Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th Street, Superior is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jean’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Harmony House staff for the wonderful loving care Jean received during her stay.
