Jeanne ( Lavine ) Lavalley

February 2, 1923 — November 18, 2013

Jeanne (LaVine) LaValley, 90, died Monday, November 18, 2013 in Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Superior on February 3, 1923 to Henry and Edith (Jones) LaVine and was a longtime resident of Superior’s East End area.

Jeanne was a devoted mother and grandmother who cherished the times her family spent together.

She was a retired bookkeeper.

During the course of her career, she worked at O’Brien Oil Company, Panks Apco, M & C Gas Station, Popkins Furniture and Oneida Limited in New York.

Jeanne’s grandparents were charter members of Zion Lutheran Church making her the oldest member of the congregation, a fact that she was very proud of.

Besides her hobby of quilting, Jeanne painted with Olde Town Artists.

She was an avid baker and cook, well known among her friends and family for her baked beans, apple pie, meatballs, cookies and bars.

Jeanne is survived by one son, Robert (Joan) Jackson, Rosemount, MN; one daughter, Susan (William) Shepard, Solon Springs, WI; four grandchildren, Gerald Shepard, Solon Springs, WI, Stephanie Shepard, Minneapolis, MN, Steven (Shannon) Jackson, St. Paul, MN and Ryan (fiancé April Rauen) Jackson, Eagan, MN; three great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and special friend and cousin, Elaine Stuart.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Firmin; her parents, and her brother Thomas.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and continue until the 12 Noon funeral service on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Dennis Paulson, officiating.

Burial will be in the St. Francis Cemetery.

Pallbearers for the service will be her three grandsons, Gerald Shepard, Steven and Ryan Jackson, her cousin John LaVine and her nephews, David and Dennis LaValley.

Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
