Jenice Sharon Smith, 70, of Superior, WI passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025 surrounded by loving family.

Jenice was born November 8, 1954 in Albert Lea, MN,  the daughter of Manford Johnson & Elaine (Holland) Marlin, formerly Johnson.

Jenice was a committed and hardworking professional, having devoted 29 years to United Health Care. She retired in December 2023.

Jenice especially loved to cook, bake, and spend time with her family. Jenice’s chocolate chip cookies and lasagna were favorites in her home. In the most recent years, Jenice enjoyed completing puzzles, watching her Lifetime movies and game show network shows. Jenice was known for her generosity, kindness, and effort to help others.

Remaining to cherish Jenice’s memory are former spouse and partner Bert Smith Sr.; children, Melisse Smith, Bert (Melanie) Smith Jr., Addie (Brian & Ava) Trettel; grandchildren, Martez, Armond, Nataleah, Xavier, Jade, Taylani, Taiz, Malakai, Azalyn; sisters, Rosemary (Dave) Marquette and Marian Modderman; several nieces and nephews. Over the years as her children grew up she was known to take on the “Mother” role to her children’s friends particularly to Hector (Kandice) Rosa Vega and Matthew (Ashley) Osborne.

Preceding Jenice in death are her parents, Manford Johnson (1975) & Elaine (Holland) Marlin, formerly Johnson (1996); James Modderman (former brother-in-law).

At the family's request, there will be no funeral or celebration of life. The family asks for you to think of her the next time you make chocolate chip cookies and share them with family and friends. We appreciate your thoughts and support during this time.
