Jennis H. "Joe" Swenson

Jennis H. “Joe” Swenson, Jr., 64, Brule, WI passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2014 in his home.


He was born on August 24, 1950 in Bastrop, Texas to Jennis H. and Nancy (Weyandt) Swenson, Sr.


Jennis spent his youth in Biwabik, Minnesota, where he graduated from High School.

He enlisted in the United States Air force and left at the rank of Sargent.

Jennis was a guide on the Brule River and the White rivers, as were his grandfather and great-grandfather. He was also a logger and carpenter.

Joe is survived by his mother Nancy Weyandt Swenson, Iron River, WI; one brother, Theodore “Stub” (Susan) Swenson; two sisters, Stephanie (Bill) Woerle, Brule, WI, and Adrienne Swenson, Hayward, WI; a niece, Jill (Harry) VanKessell, Duluth, MN, and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

He is also survived by his special adopted family, Dale and Laurie Copp, Iron River, WI, their children Dustin Copp, Kasey Chapman and her children Brody and Conner Chapman.

He was preceded in death by his father Jennis H. Swenson, Sr, Iron River, WI and his grandfather and grandmother, Max and Vivian Weyandt, Brule, WI.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Brule, WI, Town Hall from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. Please come and celebrate Joe’s life.
