Jerald H. “Jerry” Balsley, 70, Wascott resident, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at his residence.
He was born in Aitkin, MN on August 25, 1938 to Perry R. “Hank” and Lillian (Packer) Balsley.
Jerry served his country in the United States Army serving aboard the Intrepid.
He was previously employed as a Mill worker at Drummond Lumber Mill and was formerly an over the road truck driver.
Jerry is survived by four daughters, Donna (Kip) Graham, Lorry Balsley, both of MI; Wendy (John) LeDoux, Superior, WI, Shawn Balsley, FL; seven sons, Jerry Balsley, MI, Kelly (Kasey) Balsley, Danbury, WI, Brian Balsley, FL, Joe Slaviero, Duluth, MN, Paul (Tonnitt) Slaviero, CA, Rick (Kathy) Slaviero, White Bear Lake, MN, James (Fedarica) Slaviero, Italy, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; mother, Lillian Balsley, Superior, WI; two sisters, Charlotte LeBarge, Superior, WI and Mary Balsley, Maple, WI and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, sister, Shirley Eskola and a daughter, Sandy Samuels.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, Saturday, March 28, 2009 in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior and continue until the 1:00 PM funeral service with Pastor Patrick Ziems of Zion Lutheran Church officiating.
Pallbearers for the service will be Jerry’s sons and honorary pallbearers will be Jerry’s daughters.
