Joan D. Schultz

Joan D. Schultz, 87, lifelong Superior resident, died Monday, March 14, 2011 at St. Francis in the Park.

She was born on November 28, 1923 in Bayfield, WI to Laura and Lee Russell.

She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1941 and attended the former State Teachers College.

Until her retirement she was in Retail and Catalog Management.
Her memberships included Catholic Daughters of Americas, Elk’s Ladies, A.A.R.P., St. Francis Volunteers and the Foster Grandparents Program. She worked for eight years with the Alternative Ed Program at Central Jr. High School and from there went to Northland High School for four years.

She was a former member of the St. Louis Church where she served as a Parish Council member, a C.C.D. teacher, Eucharistic Minister and a Lector. At the time of her death she was a member of the Cathedral of Christ the King Church where she served on the Parish Council for a year and as a Lector for many years.

She is survived by two sons, Tim (Beth) Schultz and Lee “Rusty” Schultz; two grandsons, Edward (Anne) Schultz and Jonathan Schultz; two granddaughters, Patty (Stewart) Goldberg and Katie Schultz; three great-granddaughters, Brittany and Brandie Anna Goldberg and Natalie Schultz.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A. Schultz; her parents Laura and Lee Russell and her brother Robert “Bob” Russell.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Monday, March 21, 2011 at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church and continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Mass with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Superior.

The Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior is assisting the family with arrangements.
