Joan Rene Senn, 69, long time Superior resident, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, August 21, 2024. She was born the daughter of Donald and Arlene (Bergren) Senn in Superior, WI on January 5, 1955. She was a 1973 graduate of Superior Senior High School.
Joan was employed by Catholic Charities as a dietary supervisor and worked for Benedictine Sisters of St. Scholastica.
Joan was a long-time member of the Salvation Army and served the Salvation Army and her community. She especially enjoyed ringing the bells. Holidays were her favorite times of the year, and she decorated for each one. She was a whole-hearted Vikings fan and rooted for her team with the utmost enthusiasm. She was an avid animal lover, especially dogs and cats. Joan could often be found watching her westerns on the television.
Joan is survived by her sisters Donna Kilgore and Cheryl Senn, both of Superior; brothers Roger (Cecilia) Senn, Grand Rapids, MI, Tim (Nancy) Senn, Superior, and Terry (Jessica) Senn, Motley, MN; sister-in-law, Kathryn Senn, Superior; her uncle Dale Westerback, Bloomer, WI; nephews Joe (Stephanie), Caleb (Stephanie), Wesley (Lindsey), Zachary and Austin; nieces Meredith, Stacy (Jason), Sarah (Lorenzo), Rachel, Melissa, and Emma and thirteen grand nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister Vicky Senn; brothers Donnie Senn, Gary Senn, and Rick Senn; brother-in-law Thomas Kilgore; Aunt Jeanne Downs, her former husband Jimmy Kirkwood Jr, special friend Chris Maloski; and special canine companion, Tiger.
Visitation begins at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue in Superior, and continues until the 11:00 AM Celebration of Life and Time of Remembrance service with Majors Roger and Caleb Senn officiating. Following the service there will be a luncheon provided at VIP Pizza.
Honorary pallbearers are her nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
