Joel W. Pearson, 63, lifelong area resident, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. After facing a two-year battle with cancer, Joel passed away with dignity at his home in Lakeside, WI, with his loving wife by his side. He was born in Superior, WI, September 2, 1958, the son of Edwin and Eunice (Borg) Pearson.
He grew up in Cloverland and Maple, WI, and graduated from Northwestern High School, class of 1976.
Joel was united in marriage to Shelley Hill, April 3, 1982. They celebrated their fortieth year of marriage right before his passing.
Joel was an enthusiastic outdoorsman. He was a self-employed logger for four decades. His hobbies included hunting, blueberry picking, gardening, and spending time at the family cabin on Lake Superior. He valued his family, friends, and brothers-and-sisters-in-faith. He enjoyed his morning coffee gatherings from the former Sundown Café to his kitchen table.
Joel was a loving family man and cherished his time spent with his “favorite” grandson, Nolan Pearson. He will be remembered for his slightly embellished, yet true stories. He will be dearly missed by his wife and all who knew him!
He is survived by his beloved wife, Shelley Pearson, Lakeside, WI; sons, Ken (Chalsea) Pearson, Osseo, WI, and Andrew (Trista) Pearson, Superior, WI; grandson, Nolan Pearson, Osseo, WI; sisters, Judy Lundeen, Roseville, MN, Jane (John) Grimsrud, Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, Joan (Dennis) Davis, Excelsior, MN; brothers, Jim (Char) Pearson, Minong, WI, and John (Diann) Pearson, Hamilton, MT, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Joel and his family are very appreciative of all the visitors and help received from family and friends over the last several months. Extended thanks are given to the St. Luke’s/Lakeview Oncology team and St. Luke’s Hospice Staff for providing exceptional in-home care.
