John A. "Jack" Nystrom

May 16, 1935 — June 26, 2010

John A. Nystrom, 75, Superior, died Saturday, June 26, 2010 in his home surrounded by his children.
He was born on May 16, 1935 in Mason, WI to Herbert and Margaret (Olson) Nystrom.
He served in the United States Army during which time he was stationed in Germany for two years.
He was employed as a carpenter for Badger Buildings for many years retiring in 2005.
John was forty year member of the Elks Lodge #403 and just recently became a member of the Moose Lodge #606. He coached little league baseball for five years and served on the County Board for eighteen years.
He enjoyed hunting and, spending time with his family and friends, watching his grandchildren play sports and he was always there to help his friends.
John is survived by six children, Janet (Paul) Ryan, Rushford, MN, Jon (Deborah) Nystrom, Lino Lakes, MN, Jodi (Dan) Peters, Wyoming, MN, Jeff Nystrom, Los Angeles, CA, Julie (Bob) Archambault, Superior and Jim (Kelly) Nystrom, Superior; twelve grandchildren, Steve (Lynn), Michelle and Renee Ryan, Lindsay and Alex Nystrom, Seth, Caleb and Courtney Peters, Matt and Melissa Archambault, Tyler and Rylee Nystrom; three great-grandchildren, Cody, Larissa and Ben Ryan; seven brothers and sisters, Beatrice Landman, Texas, Lois (Bob) Cleveland, CA, Marion (Elmer) Westlund, Wisconsin, Maxine Sawyer, Wisconsin, Herb Nystrom, Minnesota, Jane Nordin, Minnesota and Joan Koch, Florida; two sisters-in-law, Vernette Nystrom, Wisconsin and Maxine Nystrom, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Willard and Howard Nystrom.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 30, 2010 in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home with an Elks Service at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue at 11:00 AM until the 12 Noon Funeral Service on Thursday, July 1, 2010 also in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home with Chaplain Dulce Proud of St. Luke’s Hospital, officiating. Lunch will be at the Elks Club following the Funeral Service.
Burial will be Mason, Wisconsin at a later date.
