John Charles

John Charles, 87, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2012.

He was born in Mystic, Iowa on September 27, 1924.

He served his country in the United States Army during World War II.

On April 17, 1947 he was united in marriage to Helen Wahto at Fort Sheridan, IL. To this union were born nine children.

John worked for and retired from United States Steel Corporation.

Preceding John in death were his wife, Helen, and a son, John “Geno” Charles.

John is survived by this children, Nancy (John) Loughren, Barnes, WI, Cindy (Don) Harju, New Hope, MN, Deborah (Mike) Endres, Duluth, MN; Mark Charles, Kevin (Dee) Charles, Jeff (Elly) Charles, Brian Charles, Brad Charles, all of Indiana. John has thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. John is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Denise Charles and longtime companion, June Charles and her children.

John’s smile and sense of humor will be greatly missed and held dear in the hearts of his children.

John’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to Kathy and Blake Ward, Irene Kulig and Dr. Mark Plachta for their kindness. Also a special thank you, to the staff at Golden Living Center, for their support to the family.

No services will be held at this time. A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date.
