John David Gehrke

John David Gehrke, 72, lifelong Superior resident, died Monday, March 11, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Superior, October 7, 1946, the son of Fred and Hazel Gehrke.

He attended high school in Superior and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Navy.

John was an avid fisherman and loved to ride his motorcycle. He was a former member of the Belgian Club in Superior.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Rose; daughter, Jodi (Kris) Haller, St. Cloud, MN; grandchildren, Brandon and Kaili, Superior, WI; step-sons, David and Robert (Jaime) McMeekin, both of Superior, WI; step-daughter, Cherie Herbts, Superior, WI; many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Susie and MaryAnn; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends; and special friend, Tom Renquist, Superior, WI.

He is preceded in death by his parents; former wife, Betty; brothers, Fred, Donald and Dickie; and sisters, Ida, Pattsy, Barbara and Elsie.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5 ^th Street, Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service with Pastor H. Duane Aslyn officiating.

Burial will be in Nemadji Cemetery
