John H. Hagfeldt

January 31, 1942 — December 14, 2015

John H. Hagfeldt, 73, Superior, WI and Cape Coral, FL, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2015 at the Hope Hospice House of Cape Coral following a four-week cancer diagnosis.

He was born on January 31, 1942 in Superior, WI to Elmer and Sarah Gertrude (Heydon) Hagfeldt.

He graduated from East High School in Superior in 1960 and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry and Math from University of Wisconsin-Superior in 1964. John did post graduate work and was a teacher’s assistant at Kansas State in Manhattan, KS, where he was a member of Alpha Chi Sigma.

John married Evelyn M. Bloomquist on June 6, 1987 in Madison, WI.

He was employed as an oil measurement technician for Lakehead/Enbridge Pipeline in Superior for 33 years.

He was a member and past president of Northland Microcomputer Users Group. John enjoyed family, woodworking, traveling and researching the family ancestry. He also enjoyed construction, playing cards and holidays with the Andersons, Alhos and friends. He looked forward to his East High annual class reunions, seasonal lunches, and weekly breakfasts at The Kitchen. He loved to read science fiction and spy/adventure novels. He loved chemistry, math, and computers, as well as watching CSPAN, Food, History and Velocity programming. He was glad to host many of UW-Superior’s international student community.

John is survived by his wife Evelyn; two brothers-in-law, Ron (MaryEllen) Bloomquist, Naples, FL, Rusty Bloomquist, Folsom, CA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial and Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, January 16, 2015 at Faith United Methodist Church with Pastor Joel Certa-Werner, officiating.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Harbor House or Meal Outreach Ministry through Faith United Methodist Church, 1531 Hughitt Ave., Superior, WI 54880.

Undesignated funds received will go towards a memorial paver at Hope Hospice House in Cape Coral, Fl.
