John L. “Jack” Galliford, 86, Superior resident, died Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Superior, WI.
H was born on October 13, 1929 in Minneapolis, MN to Chester and Fern (Lowell) Galliford.
Jack served his country in the United States Army from 1946 – 1949, serving in Vienna Austria.
He was the owner/operator of Superior Sausage Company and retired after twenty-seven years. In his earlier years he was employed as a wholesale meat distributer for twenty years and was a mail carrier for ten years.
Jack was a life member of the V.F.W. in Superior, life member of the Military Cooties, Superior, American Legion, Mesa, AZ and the Superior Elks Lodge #403. He also was a Mason with the Itasca Acacia Lodge and the Aad Shrine Temple.
He enjoyed golfing and softball.
Jack is survived by one daughter, Gail (Richard) Hoffman, Superior, WI; one son, Gary (Kathy) Galliford, Stillwater, MN; five grandchildren, Sara and Karla Galliford, Deanna (Sean) Oswald, Miranda Galliford and Travis (Amy) Tyson and three great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth on December 8, 2004, his parents and a son Guy on December 8, 2009.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th Street, Superior and continue until the 2:00 PM funeral service with Pastor Sarah Kerkes of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church officiating.
Military honors will be accorded by Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435 Color Guard.
Burial will take place at a later date in AZ.
