John Henry Kallinen, 93, longtime area resident died, Friday, August 31, 2018 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. He was born in Iron Mountain, MI, on July 16, 1925, the son of John and Mayme (Saari) Kallinen.
John married his love, Mildred Sofia Liska, December 13, 1952 and they celebrated sixty-five years of marriage before his passing. He was employed with the School District of Maple as an Assistant Maintenance Engineer for many years before his retirement in 1987.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mildred; son, Dwight (Gillian) Kallinen; granddaughters, Denise, San Antonio, TX, and Michelle, Denver, CO; and great-grandsons, Joe and Sam. He is preceded in death by his son, David; and parents, John and Mayme Kallinen.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Hope Lutheran Church in Oulu, 2500 County Hwy B, and will continue until the 12:00 Noon Memorial Service with Pastor Scott Stai officiating. Burial will be at Pine Glade Cemetery in Oulu, WI.
