John P. Martin, 86, Brule, WI, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. He was born on November 2, 1928 in Beloit, WI to Vessie and Irene (Linton) Martin.
He married Juanita Tutor on September 3, 1949 in Iron River and celebrated 65 years of marriage.
John sailed for ten years on the Great Lakes ore boats, worked for seven years at the grain elevators, worked 17 years at Baillie Oil Company; worked a few years as a logger and he was a lifelong farmer. John really enjoyed farming and taking care of the animals and his horses.
He was a member of the Cloverland Bible Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife Juanita, John is survived by five daughters, Sandra (Jim) Rau, Iron River, WI, Wanda (Gary) Suo, Oulu, WI, Barbara Bosteder, South Range, WI, Brenda Martin, Brule, WI, Debra (Rodney Hafner) Martin, River Falls, WI; one son, John “Pat” (Arlene) Martin, Brule, WI; one foster daughter, Kathy Larsen, Duluth, MN; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Colleen Orval, Jefferson, WI and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jim.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and will continue until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service on Friday, December 19, 2014 at the Cloverland Bible Baptist Church (formerly Cloverland Covenant Church) with Pastor Charles Ells, officiating.
Burial will be in the Resthaven Cemetery in the Town of Cloverland, WI in the Spring.
Pallbearers for the service will be, Matthew Martin, Joe Rau, Mark Rau, Aaron Bosteder, John Grube and Bill Byholm.
