John M. Meyers, 64, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2009 in Brule following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on April 14, 1945 in Superior to John O. and Bertha (Flood) Meyers. He was a lifelong Superior resident except for the past six years when he lived in Port Wing.
He served in the United States Marines, stationed in Japan during the Viet Nam Era.
John was employed as a carpenter having been employed with Johnson Brothers Construction. He had previously worked at the United States Steel Plant.
He was a member of the VFW. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt, fish and go boating and he was an avid Packer fan.
John is survived by two daughters, Debbie Patnaude, Minneapolis, MN, Wendy Meyers, Duluth, MN; three sons, John R. Meyers, Duluth, Victor A. (Jennifer) Meyers, Minneapolis, Robert M. Meyers, Arizona; two sisters, Julia (Gary) Allen, Saginaw, MN, Toni (Brian) Saari, Brule, WI; four grandchildren, Anthony, Katy, Xavier and Jayden; five nieces and nephews, Kathryn, Thomas, Bill, Tracy and Steven and several great-nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by his parents; his former wife, Mae Meyers and a brother Victor B. Meyers who died in Viet Nam.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Memorial Service on Monday, June 8, 2009 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, with Pastor Charles Ells, of the Cloverland Covenant Church, officiating.
